The objective of the project is to design an open CNC for the optimal control of a 5-axis machining center. This open CNC, developed jointly by LURPA and Supélec, will enable us to do away with industrial CNC systems, whose performance and openness are limited.
An interim objective will be to develop the test platform and reproduce the standard models which already exist in industrial CNC systems. At a later stage, it will be possible to introduce new description formats for machining trajectories, new interpolation laws and new predictive command laws.
Thus, we wish to work on the three fundamental levels of a CNC:
- The level of the toolpath interpreter
- The level of the trajectory interpolator
- The level of the servo-control laws
